Getting started

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.5 or newer
  • WooCommerce 9.0 or newer
  • PHP 7.4 or newer

GaugeQuote works with the classic cart and checkout and with the cart and checkout blocks. It supports WooCommerce order tables (HPOS).

Install

The free plugin is not published yet. This page will link to it on wordpress.org when it is.

  1. Install and activate WooCommerce.
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin. Upload the GaugeQuote zip file, then click Activate.

Price your first product

  1. Open a simple product (Products > Edit).
  2. In Product data, open the GaugeQuote tab.
  3. Tick Price this product with GaugeQuote options and formulas.
  4. Under Price formula > Price from, choose:
    • The product's price plus options: the regular or sale price on the General tab is the starting price, and the options add to it;
    • Made to measure (sizes the customer enters);
    • Cut to size (materials and machine rates from the GaugeQuote settings).
  5. Under Options, choose a type and click Add an option.
  6. Click Update. Open the product page to see the options and the live price.

If something is wrong, the product is not saved with the error. GaugeQuote names the setting at fault, keeps your changes as a draft, and customers keep seeing the last saved options.

If GaugeQuote says "The options were saved, but the product cannot be priced yet", the options are valid but do not work with the product or the shop settings, for example the product has no regular price, or a material is missing. Fix the named setting and click Update.

Shop settings

WooCommerce > GaugeQuote holds the settings shared by all products:

  • Materials for cut-to-size products: name, thickness, sheet width and height, priced per sheet or per m², price, feed speed, and optional own rate per metre, pierce charge, pierce seconds and waste.
  • Machine and cutting: priced per metre of cut or per machine minute, charge per pierce, seconds per pierce, waste, unusable sheet edge, spacing between parts, smallest part, material charged on, sheet use, turning parts.
  • Uploads: largest upload (MB) and how many days files that were never ordered are kept.

Made-to-measure prices and option prices are set on each product.
